Jerky is one of America's all time favorite snack foods. But not all jerky is created equal. Here's 5 reasons why I think big brand jerky isn't worth your money.

1. You shouldn't be able to see through a piece of meat
If you thought the jerky on the left was a whole piece of meat, you might be shocked...
Major brands cut costs by using low quality meats, loaded with fats and fillers. It's blended into a meat paste and formed to LOOK like a whole meat piece. It's not. It's like meat but it's more like candy. Ew...
At M&S Meats, they do things differently. They only use top round meat (that's the good stuff and you can see the difference from the photo!), all sourced locally so it supports local farmers.
2. The flavor disappears after the first few chews
Imagine, I've just bought a bag of big brand jerky and I dive in. I chewed a couple of times and the flavor up and disappears like socks in the laundry. It's unfortunately way too common with big brand jerky.
M&S meats does like it should. They have perfected the recipe according to the old cowboy recipes and have been making it the old west style since 1945. They make it dry and tough so the more I chew, the more the flavors reveal themselves.

3. Big brand jerky is made by multinational companies
Their branding may not look like it but I was surprised to know where the head offices are for some big brand jerkies. And I don't even want to guess on where they source their meat from...
When I enjoy M&S Meats, I know that I'm supporting a small business and hard working farmers in the USA. They source their meats locally to keep our land prosperous.
4. Machine produced jerky just isn't as good as hand made
Every big brand seems to be about doing things quicker and more efficiently. Somewhere along the way big jerky brands forgot about quality.
M&S Meats still make their jerky by hand. They hand slice and hand hook every piece. I could even see the hook holes in my jerky. Sure it takes more time, but the best things in life often do.

5. Real jerky should have some texture
Major jerky brands have forgotten what real jerky is all about. They make that soft, greasy stuff with no BITE to it, and when I tasted it, it felt like a waste of money.
That's why I keep on ordering from M&S meats, they still make their jerky the old west style. Proper jerky that is dry and tough and requires chewing. That's the fun of it!
100 000+ happy customers - The internet can’t stop talking about this jerky!
Forget about that soft candy-ass jerky that the big brands sell, they don't care about the quality.
M&S Meats have been using the same recipe for 75 years, and their jerky is best I have ever tasted during my 42 years. Get yourself some today!
